WPS-HA Compact Global Report

This year, I led the design of the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action (WPS-HA) Compact report, produced by UN Women. The report presents both alarming trends and meaningful progress in advancing gender equality in conflict-affected regions.

The world stands at a critical crossroads: in the past year alone, 612 million women and girls lived within 50 kilometers of at least one of 170 active armed conflicts—an increase of 41% since 2015. Conflict-related sexual violence also surged, with a 50% rise since 2022. Women and girls accounted for 95% of reported victims.

To visually represent the report’s five core pillars, I created original illustrations—each depicting the lower half of a woman’s face. This design choice was intentional: by omitting identifiable features, we aimed to portray a universal and inclusive representation of women across all backgrounds.

In our approach to data visualization, we prioritized clarity and accessibility. We selected chart types that clearly conveyed the data’s significance while avoiding overly technical or dense presentations. The result: visuals that are easy to interpret and impactful for a broad audience.
